Girls team won the Mapleton Night Invite (trophy to-be-delivered) and the boys were runners-up, despite the fact that the meet had to conclude after the 300m hurdles. A power outage led to no stadium lights. The team was honestly disappointed they couldn't run finish their races. That makes for proud coaches.
The girls' team took second at the Crestview Invite on April 20, while the boys' finished 3rd, out of 13 local teams.
Many athletes continue to record PRs. Special congratulations are in order for Jacob Allen, who won the pole vault with a new PR of 13' 6", which ties the NL school record! Baumspage results are here, as well the team results sheet. |
CHAMPIONS AND
RUNNERS-UP! (No worries - the girls' trophy made it safely to the rightful owners.) The girls' team won the Northwestern Husky Invite while the boys' took runner-up honors (to Smithville, last year's state runner-up). The girls were paced by Maryonna Cathey's wins in the 100 and 400, and Dana Gustely's win in the 800. The 4x800 team of Abigail Good, Savannah Shaver, Kaylin Williams and Gustely took first by over 30 seconds, and the 4x400 team of Zoey Mitchell, Shaver, Gustely, and Cathey won to finish the meet on a high note. The boys' 4x400 team of Carson Coey, Austin Reed, Curtis Joppeck, and Aaron Reed blew away the competition. Many solid performances and PRs helped both teams beat the elements and their opponents on Saturday. Here is the link to the Baumspage results.
