Volunteers Wanted!
New London is hosting TEN home meets this spring. We are always looking for volunteers - parents, NL staff, alumni - to help at the finish line and with the field events. No experience is necessary. If you are willing to help, email Coach Albaugh at [email protected] or Coach Ebinger at [email protected]. We would love to have you. Thank you for your support.
Tradition.
New London track and field athletes are part of an extensive history of success. Both boys and girls varsity track and field programs have won multiple Firelands Conference championships, and qualified individuals and relays to the state meet in Columbus. In recent years, the boys' team won the FC meet in 2012, 2013 and 2017. The girls won in 2008, 2009, 2014, and 2016. Last year we capped off an excellent season by taking four girls to state meet, held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Morgan Luedy competed in four events for the second year in a row, earning 9th in the long jump, 100m dash, and 4x400m relay, and stood on the podium with a 4th place finish in the 200m dash. Dana Gustely, Eden Copley, and Maryonna Cathey also competed in the 4x4, the first NL girls' relay to qualify for state finals in many years. Eden is now running track at Kent State University and Morgan is competing at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.
We also have amazing middle school teams with outstanding coaches who do a wonderful job of teaching the fundamentals of our sport. They accomplish so much with so little, to help make our entire program a great success. We are very proud of our accomplishments on the track and in the field, but relish most the young men and women who grow up, mature, and become important members of our community. We foster character and integrity above all else. And if we can encourage each of them to remain athletes after high school, we consider that a real bonus. The team is looking forward to another successful season in 2018. Check out our schedule and join us! |
